What to expect
Your first session will involve a brief assessment before exploring therapy goals and identify any physical and environmental adjustments you may prefer. Once we have established a treatment plan together your facilitator will lead you through therapeutic counselling, pausing intermittently for movement, breathing exercises and grounding techniques before ending with a short guided relaxation and reflection.

About your therapist
Amy is a qualified social worker, mental health clinician, rehabilitation counsellor and yoga facilitator certified in Trauma Centre Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY), the first yoga-based empirically validated, clinical intervention for complex trauma or chronic, treatment-resistant post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Amy is a registered member of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).

Embodied Counselling includes all parts of you for treatment- your body, your mind and your current sense of self. The purpose of bringing movement, breath and mindfulness into therapy is to help increase awareness of your body and manage nervous system responses while your mind is processing memories, thoughts and emotions.
It is suitable for most abilities. The sessions are co-designed with you based on your physical and cognitive requirements but please check with your health care provider for advice. The studio is wheelchair accessible and there are free on-street parking available outside the building. It is advisable to contact us prior to booking your appointment to discuss further.

Assistive exercise props will be provided for use but you are welcome to bring your own. Please wear clothing that will allow your body to move freely.
We offer a concession rate for participants who have a valid Pensioner Concession Card. Payment options and sliding scale available to those with limited access to social and financial resources. Not currently eligible for Medicare rebate.
Home visits within the Shoalhaven region can be arranged for returning clients with a travel fee depending on distance. Online sessions available for returning clients only.
