You will be guided through a series of gentle movements, breathing exercises, grounding techniques and mindfulness activities before ending the session with a short resting period.

About your therapist
Amy is a qualified social worker, mental health clinician, rehabilitation counsellor and yoga facilitator certified in Trauma Centre Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY), the first yoga-based empirically validated, clinical intervention for complex trauma or chronic, treatment-resistant post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Amy is a registered member of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).

Our movements are designed to be gentle with options given so that you can choose to move however you like. There's no need to be flexible. Our facilitator will be moving with you at all times so you can simply watch and follow, or move in your own way if you want to. You can also return to stillness whenever you like. Please consult your health care provider if you have any concerns about participating in yoga.
Trauma Centre Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) is a specific method of yoga instructing and approach that is based on trauma and attachment theories, neuroscience and intersectionality for the treatment of complex trauma and PTSD. While the movements are similar to "regular" yoga postures, how it is practiced is quite different. There is no hands-on assist and instructions are invitational and choice-based. This is a complimentary practice and should not replace your primary mental health treatment plan.
It is suitable for most abilities. The sessions are co-designed with you based on your physical and cognitive requirements but please check with your health care provider for advice. The studio is wheelchair accessible and there are free on-street parking available outside the building. It is advisable to contact us prior to booking your appointment to discuss further.
It is your choice. You can remain silent or if you choose to talk, you could share feedback on any sensations felt in your body during the practice. In the event where you would like to include counselling as part of your care plan, you could explore Embodied Counselling or consult with your health care provider for advice.
Assistive exercise props will be provided for use but you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer. Please wear clothing that will allow your body to move freely.
We offer a concession rate for participants who have a valid Pensioner Concession Card. Payment options and sliding scale available to those with limited access to social and financial resources.
Yes, you can bring up to 1 person (must be your carer or support worker) to accompany you during your yoga session. Participants under 18 years old must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. Support animals are welcome.
Home visits within the Shoalhaven region can be arranged for returning clients with a travel fee depending on distance. Online sessions available for returning clients only.
A cancellation fee equal to the booked session fee will be charged for 'no-show' or if cancelled within 2 hours before your appointment time.
