We're bringing trauma-informed yoga to the Shoalhaven!
Our approach uses invitational language and variations to gently guide participants to move their body, use their breath and stay in stillness in a safe and inclusive environment. All classes are created to help manage stress and promote a sense of well-being and relaxation.
Overlooking the beautiful Shoalhaven River is the serene setting for our practice. Each 60-minute community class is offered in the style of trauma-informed gentle yoga so it's easy to follow and prior experience is not necessary. Yoga mats will be provided for use and chairs are available for seated variations.
All identities welcome and suitable for most abilities.

Here's what some of our participants had to say:
"Classes are held in a relaxed, caring environment. The teaching is clear and at a pace that is calming with no pressure. I would recommend these classes especially to those like myself who might be normally worried at the thought of attending a yoga class. You will be looked after and allowed to feel safe by the teachers with no judgement. I leave class feeling lighter, relaxed and better about myself. Lovely group of students, too."
"Very welcoming, inclusive and mindful yoga class which stretches, balances and relaxes me beautifully."

It is generally understood that participants might be living with a psychological injury or mental health condition such as anxiety or depression. Special attention is paid to minimise the risk of psychological triggers which may help participants feel less vulnerable in a group setting, faciliated by a yoga teacher who is trained in mental health. It is a complimentary practice and should not replace your primary mental health treatment plan.
Trauma Sensitive Yoga, on the other hand, refers to a specific method of teaching and approach that is better suited within a therapeutic space rather than a general community class.
A yoga class that feels welcoming and movement that is accessible and easy to follow. We do our best to cater to most abilities but let us know in advance if you have any specific requirements. As this is a group-based practice, one-on-one attention may not be available. The space we provide is non-judgemental and accepting of all identities.
Yoga props including mats will be available for use but you are welcome to bring your own. It is generally advisable to wear something that will allow your body to move around comfortably.
There's no cancellation fee but paid classes will not be refunded within 1 hour's notice. We appreciate letting us know early so that people on the waitlist can attend.
